Carrfour Supportive Housing

Carrfour Supportive Housing is the non-profit developer that created the permanet low-income housing at Verde Gardens in partnership with the Homeless Trust of Miami-Dade County. Carrfour, whose name means “Crossroads” in French, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1993 by the Homeless Committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Its mission is to provide permanent housing and supportive services to maximize the self-sufficiency of the formerly homeless in Miami-Dade County and other cities in Florida through joint ventures with various non-profit organizations.

The Homeless Trust of Miami-Dade County

The Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust was created in 1993 by the Board of County Commissioners with several primary functions:

  1. to administer proceeds of the one-percent food and beverage tax;
  2. to implement the local continuum of care plan, a three-phased plan, called the Miami-Dade County Community Homeless Plan (the "Plan"); and
  3. to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners on issues involving homelessness.
